Glenn had a kidney transplant in 2011, after suffering fom IgA nephropathy since he was a teenager. He has always been a very active and competitive person, and since the transplant he has strived for optimal health. SInce the transplant, he has suffered from a few health set-backs from his suppressed immune system, but thanks to his high levels of fitness, he has overcome them all. From surfing and Stand-Up Paddleboarding to running, cycling, yoga and swimming, he even changed career paths to become an Exercise Physiologist, in order to learn about the body and its functionality. At his business, Movement Lab, he is well-known for getting athletes to the top of their game, with a number of his clients becoming Australian and World Champions in their sport.

For his 40th birthday he competed in his first triathlon, and his next challenge is to represent Australia in the World Transplant Games, and bring home a gold!

In June this year the World Transplant Games will be held in Malaga, Spain, the other side of the world!

The World Transplant Games is an international sporting event for transplant athletes. It demonstrates the physical success of transplant surgery and the ability of transplant recipients to lead healthy, normal lives.

The event aims to significantly enhance the understanding and acceptance of organ donation. The games represent the largest organ donor awareness event in the world and ultimately aim to increase organ donation rates and save lives.

There’s no greater gift than the gift of life and World Transplant Games athletes from so many countries worldwide are living proof of that.

In Australia, approximately 1400 people are on organ transplant waiting lists. One organ and tissue donor can transform the lives of 10 or more people. Please register your donation decision on the Australian Organ Donor Register and most importantly, discuss your donation decision with family members.

Training has begun! Glenn is competing in the 30km road bike race, 400m swimming, 5000m road race and 1500m track events. He knows his stuff, but he needs your support to get him there. He needs to pay for flights, registration (US$1100), insurance ($580) and uniforms ($500+) out of his own pocket. He needs $5000 to cover these costs.
