I hate that I have to be writing this, because it means someone I care about is very ill, and will need a lot of help to defray current and future medical costs. On August 11, our friends Jeremy and Amber Hyman traveled to Destin, FL to celebrate their 18th wedding anniversary. After suffering unending headaches for two days, Jeremy had a seizure in their hotel room. A second seizure at the emergency department lead to a CT scan and MRI that revealed he had lesions on each side of his brain. On August 16th, they performed scans of Jeremy’s stomach, pelvis, and chest and discovered that there were no additional lesions in those parts of his body. Jeremy was then transferred back to Ohio where he underwent additional testing at the University of Cincinnati on August 19. On August 20, Jeremy underwent his first lengthy surgery to remove the lesion from the left side of his brain. On August 26, the surgeons were able to remove 85% of the lesion from the right side of his brain. It was then that they confirmed that both lesions were cancerous. He has a very long road ahead of him in this battle against brain cancer, including chemotherapy, radiation, and many other types of therapy and treatment. He is an excellent spirits, and he has already been released from the hospital so he can begin his treatments and therapies. Jeremy and his family can certainly use your thoughts and prayers at this time. However, and perhaps more importantly, they also will need financial support to cover the costs of this treatment. They also need modifications to the house to help accommodate Jeremy’s reduced ease in mobility during treatment. He is obviously unable to work right now, so their household income is getting consumed by medical expenses. Please show your support for this wonderful family by donating to the Hymans.
