Help My 10-Year-Old Son in His Fight Against Sickle Cell Disease (Bone Marrow Transplant) My name is Kewanna Adley (Tootie) and I am the proud mother of two handsome boys. My oldest son Julian Tolbert (JU) is just 10 years old, and since he was only 5 months old, he has been battling sickle cell disease. This condition has shaped so much of his young life, forcing him to endure countless hospital visits (115 so far), painful crises, and treatments no child should ever have to go through. On top of sickle cell, he also suffers from severe gastrointestinal issues, which make it difficult for him to get the nutrition his body desperately needs. He’s also experiencing headaches and hypertension now which causes him to see a new specialist. His care has now become even more intense he requires blood transfusions every 3 weeks to help manage his disease. These transfusions keep him stable, but they also mean frequent hospital visits, long days at medical centers, and more stress on his little body. As his mother, I do everything I can to stay strong for him, but the journey has not been easy. I am a single parent of two, and I often have to take unpaid time off work to travel for his treatments, hospital stays, and specialist visits. These trips involve gas, food, and sometimes days away from home. Balancing work, caring for my other child, and supporting my son through his medical battles has been overwhelming emotionally, physically, and financially. I created this GoFundMe to ask for help in easing some of the heavy burdens that come with his care. The funds raised will go toward: Preparing for a bone marrow transplant Covering medical expenses and ongoing treatments not fully paid by insurance Supporting travel and lodging for hospital visits and specialist care Helping with daily living costs when I am unable to work due to his appointments Providing comfort and resources to make his treatment journey a little easier.
