As the oldest of five sons, I’m asking for support for our mom, Barb, as she begins a long road of outpatient examinations at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Barb has been battling serious health issues and was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Cirrhosis, which developed as a complication of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Doctors believe a liver transplant will be needed soon. These exams are critical to determine the severity of her condition, the timing of a transplant, and to ensure she is strong enough for surgery. In February 2023, my stepfather Chris suffered a severe accident that left him unable to work. Barb stepped in as his caretaker for two years, while also doing everything she could to keep the family afloat. Eventually, she started a new job she loved, but since May of this year, her declining health and multiple surgeries have prevented her from working. The initial stay in Jacksonville will last at least two weeks and requires both Barb and Chris to remain near the hospital. With no income and mounting expenses, the financial strain has been overwhelming. Funds raised will help cover lodging, meals, household bills, and lost income. We are hopeful this next step will bring answers and a clear path to recovery. Any support through donations, prayers, or sharing this campaign means the world to our family.
