Anyone who knows the Higgins family knows they would give the shirt off their back to anyone in need. It’s our turn to help them. Tim Higgins is a 38-year-old father of three beautiful children and a hardworking husband. He is a detective for the Schenectady Police Department. He survived Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma once already and now twice, but is undergoing a stem cell transplant in hopes of a healthier future. Unfortunately, due to the severity of Tim’s case, local doctors were unable to provide the level of care and needs of his condition, leading to a transfer of care to Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. This time has been much more difficult as he faced challenges of obtaining a diagnosis and dealing with a rare disease known as HLH. Tim has been out of work for some time and the stem cell transplant will keep him out of work for a longer period of time, in a more volatile economy. The family has amassed bills from multiple stays in NYC during a time when doctors couldn’t understand how Tim survived that long without intervention. This has been a hard time, and your support brings us hope and strength. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this with us. It is important that we let Tim know he can heal without the worry of taking care of his family.
