Lina’s Story Lina is a shining life-force who has touched the lives of so many with her generosity and kindness. She is constantly gifting people with her famously amazing cooking, crafts, garden flowers, and sweet cards. But now Lina needs our help as she faces a challenging battle against cancer. The Challenge Lina was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer 5 years ago. It was caught early and believed that she beat it with surgery and radiation. But very sadly, the cancer is back and has spread to both lungs, liver, and some bones. The cancer lesions in her lower back and resulting fractures are causing her debilitating pain. This pain is greatly impacting Lina’s quality of life, making it nearly impossible for her to enjoy even the simple pleasures she loves, like cooking and gardening, much less fly fishing and snowboarding. A Ray of Hope However, there is hopeful news! A spinal surgery has been recommended that would significantly reduce Lina’s pain and improve her quality of life. The surgeon goes in to scrape the cancer off her spine and then injects the area with a cement to backfill and strengthen the bone. This procedure would provide relief within days and help Lina live without constant heavy pain medication. She is currently receiving chemotherapy treatments every three weeks along with injections every other week, which immediately slow down the spread of cancer. These treatments will also hopefully help to alleviate her extreme shortness of breath. How You Can Help Lina was just notified that this surgery will not be covered by insurance, so there will be significant expenses that Lina and her husband, Quint, need help with. Your donations will go towards: 1. Helping to pay for the critical spinal surgery and other medications not covered by insurance 2. Giving Lina and Quint solace that they will not have to lose their home to pay for this 3. Buying healthy foods to boost her immune system during chemotherapy 4. Offsetting lost income as Lina is unable to work Why Lina Deserves Your Support Lina has always been there for others, never asking for anything in return. She finds joy in all the beauty and simple things in life and always faces challenges with a positive attitude. Even going through all of this, she remains very selfless and is way more concerned for how it impacts all who love her so much. Lina is extremely passionate about all the things she loves. On any given winter day, she has been likely to be snowboarding at Hoodoo Ski Area, her second home. You could expect to find Lina speeding and smiling down the mountain, spreading joy and happiness to everyone around her. Her positivity is contagious and just being in her presence will inspire you and brighten your mood.
