In August 2022, Ann Walker began experiencing symptoms that would later lead to a devastating and life altering diagnosis. In December 2023, she was officially diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)—a progressive and incurable disease that affects the nervous system and leads to loss of muscle control. Ann’s diagnosis has deeply impacted not only her family and friends but also her co-workers and the broader community. She has always been a source of strength and compassion—a quiet hero who dedicated her life to helping others without ever asking for anything in return. For over 19 years, Ann worked at Community Care, helping manage Medicaid programs and ensuring that vulnerable individuals received the care they needed. Her dedication touched countless lives. Sadly, due to the rapid progression of ALS, Ann was forced into early retirement and officially stopped working in August 2025. This sudden loss of income, coupled with rising medical and daily living expenses, has brought significant emotional and financial stress to Ann and her loved ones. To ensure Ann can safely attend her medical appointments and maintain some independence, her family recently purchased an accessible minivan. While this vehicle is a lifeline, the added financial burden of the van has been a challenge. Any contribution—no matter how small—will make a meaningful difference and help provide • Reliable and safe transportation to medical appointments • A sense of independence and dignity for Ann • Financial relief for her family during an incredibly difficult time Ann continues to inspire us with her resilience and grace.
