Together for Gaza – A Lifeline for a Family in Need

It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to look into the eyes of children who are suffering, and know that they are living through something no child ever should.

Roaa (15), Amal (13), Ayman (10), Dalia (7), and Fatima (4) are five Palestinian children living in Gaza under devastating conditions. Two of the children, Amal and Dalia, suffer from thalassemia and urgently need regular blood transfusions. Ayman struggles with asthma, and little Fatima has painful rashes spreading from her face down to her neck and body. Their entire family, including their parents Dina and Iyad, and grandmother, have been displaced and have been living in a makeshift tent set up amid the rubble of their destroyed neighborhood.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve been in regular contact with the family – speaking with the children and their parents through video calls and WhatsApp messages. During our conversations, I’ve been shown the harsh reality of their daily life: five children, their parents, and elderly grandmother crowded into a single tent, surrounded by rubble, with the constant sound of aircraft hovering overhead.

Despite everything, they’ve welcomed me into their world with warmth and grace. Although it feels that we are worlds apart, I have establised a deep connection to them. This family’s story has become personal to me. It is my mission to bring as much visibility to their struggle as much as possible and to help gather the support they urgently need.
