We are reaching out on behalf of my husband, Officer Keion Best, a devoted public servant and valued member of our law enforcement family, who is now facing an unexpected and life-altering medical crisis. For over six years, Keion has dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community with integrity, courage, and unwavering commitment.
Known for his extraordinary physical fitness, Keion’s days often began with early morning workouts followed by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training in the evenings. His strength and discipline extended far beyond the gym – Keion is a champion competitor and a generous mentor, always eager to lend a helping hand and share his knowledge.
Tragically, Keion was recently rushed to the emergency room after experiencing a sudden seizure. Doctors later confirmed he had suffered a stroke, and further medical evaluations have revealed serious heart complications. Keion now faces heart surgery and an extended recovery period ahead.
This unexpected health crisis has had a profound impact on Keion and our family. As a relatively new addition to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, which is a Civil Service Agency, appointed less than a year ago, Keion is not eligible for the long-term benefits available to more tenured officers. Civil Service has denied his PBA Union’s request to allow sick time to be donated to him. He has exhausted his available sick and personal leave, and while he remains in high spirits, the emotional and financial strain is immense.
The cost of ongoing medical care, potential surgeries, and recovery — much of which is not fully covered by insurance — is overwhelming. Keion has always been known for his selflessness and compassion, consistently stepping up to support others in their time of need. Today, we are asking you to help return that kindness.
We are seeking donations to help cover Keion’s medical expenses, treatment, and other financial burdens. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly to supporting Keion’s recovery. Your support will not only aid in covering vital expenses but also help Keion stay focused on healing, both physically and emotionally.
