Story
My name is Shahad, but today my biggest identity is that I am an elder brother, pleading to you all to help me save my little brother. I’m writing this with a heavy heart as we face a crisis that no family should have to endure twice.
My younger brother, Shehzad, was diagnosed with Stage 3 testicular cancer in late 2023. After undergoing an orchiectomy in November 2023 and completing three rounds of intensive BEP chemotherapy between December 2023 till February 2024, we were hopeful. We truly believed he was almost cancer-free.
But on May 12, 2025, our worst fear came true – the cancer is back. It has now metastasized to an aortic lymph node, a location that makes treatment far more complex and urgent.
To save Shehzad, he needs a specialized surgical procedure called RPLND (Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection). This is a rare and delicate surgery that is hardly ever performed in Bangladesh – only a handful of cases have been done by one or two doctors, and even they have advised us to pursue this treatment abroad.
Why Singapore?:
Our first choice for treatment is in Singapore, where all of Shehzad’s doctors have suggested to go for a second opinion as Singapore has world class medical services nearest to Bangladesh. Along with that, in Singapore we also have some degree of family support.
This gives us the best possible chance not only for the RPLND procedure but also for long-term care, monitoring, and recovery.
The Financial Burden:
However this opportunity comes with a huge financial burden.
The estimated cost of long term treatment in Singapore is a lump sum of USD $50,000. This includes initial medical care and any future long term stays.
This, as you can already tell, is a massive cost for any one family, but together, we can achieve anything.
As a family, we’ve already exhausted significant resources over the past year, and now we are humbly turning to you—our friends, family, and community—for help.
Why this matters so much to me:
Since moving out of Bangladesh in 2015, I’ve already spent nearly a decade away from my younger brother. And now, with the cancer returning aggressively, I can’t bear the thought of losing him without trying every possible route to save his life.
Your donation—no matter how small—can truly make a life-saving difference. It will go directly toward giving Shehzad a second chance at life.
Please consider donating and sharing this page with others. With your help, we can get him the treatment he needs and deserve more time together as a family.
Please don’t hesitate to share this with your broader community. With each share, we can reach a larger group of people, thus, making it a tad bit more likely for us to be able to reach this enormous goal.
From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you.
