I’ve started this fundraiser the help the animals at Beara Farm Animal Sanctuary.
There are currently nearly 90 animals being provided with a place of safety with food, clean beds and shelters and all the care they need to live their best lives.
There are donkeys, a pony, a large herd of goats, some sheep, geese, ducks, ex caged hens, cockerels and pigs, including four commercial pigs.
The animals have come from various backgrounds all around Ireland from homes to situations of abuse and the Sanctuary has worked to help many organisations around the country. There are also 22 cats there who have mostly come from situations of extreme abuse.
The Sanctuary gives new arrivals all the time they need to destress from whatever situation and allow them to move forward in their own time. Many have not lived with their own kind and most progress best once they’re allowed to live among their own kind.
The unique thing about Beara Farm Animal Sanctuary is that all the animals free range and live among each other so you’ll have goats, pigs, hens all asleep together, only being seperated at feed time and the birds going to bed in their barn at night.
The Sanctuary has been taking in animals for six years and applied for charity status in October 2021. Charitable status was finally received in August 2023.
People may not realise that you are not allowed to fundraise in Ireland until you are registered so the owners of the Sanctuary have funded nearly everything themselves.
After being left a small amount of money for their retirement by one of the owners brothers after he passed away, the owners were able to have some new shelters built and an area concreted to improve conditions for the animals.
The money that was left to them ran out in September and they are now appealing for help as a new shelter is needed and a larger area needs to be concreted to help shield the animals from the shockingly wet winters we now have and to make it easier to provide the care they need. New fencing is needed in some areas to stop the goats getting onto a neighbour’s land.
Any help that can be given to support this Sanctuary would be amazing and really appreciated and would make a world of difference to the animals and their carers.

Bless you Megan, that’s really kind of you. Thanks for your help when came down. It was lovely to meet you and your mam. Ronnie and Reggie are thriving and seemingly in charge of everything outside and one of them has a nap during the day, it’s quite funny. Say hello to your mam and take care
