Help My Mom Marcela Fight Pancreatic Cancer
I’m sharing this with a heavy heart—my mom, Marcela, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Just two weeks ago, she went to the doctor thinking it might be a bad stomach virus after months of severe pain and not being able to eat. Instead, we got the devastating news that it’s cancer.
Next week, she will start chemotherapy and prepare for a complex surgery to remove the tumor. She is extremely weak, hasn’t been able to eat in months, because her pancreas isn’t functioning properly and is under attack.
Bills at home are already behind, and the medical expenses are piling up fast.
Since running the bed and breakfast was her only source of income, losing that has been devastating. The busy summer season, which usually helps cover expenses, had to be canceled entirely. Now, without guests and no way to work, there’s no income coming in.
Why We Need Your Support
We are raising $12,000 to help cover the immediate medical treatments, living expenses, and the care my mom needs to fight this. Even with insurance, just the chemo and surgery next week will cost around $4,500. Ongoing treatments, specialist visits, and medications will add up quickly.
Tim and I are working hard through our businesses to make extra income, but we can’t do this alone. We need all the extra help and prayers we can get right now.

My mom is my rock, my inspiration, and the heart of our family. She’s always been so strong, so full of life, and the kind of person who makes everyone feel welcome and loved. My kids adore their grandma, and I can’t imagine them growing up without her.
She has always been the strongest, most giving person I know. She’s spent her life building The Country Hotel in Romania, a place where people from all over the world come to feel at home. Guests know her as the “Gastronomy Queen” for her incredible farm-to-table cooking and the warmth she brings to every interaction. It’s not just about the food—it’s about making people feel loved and cared for.
Beyond the hotel, she’s always been involved in the community—organizing music festivals, supporting local artists, and creating connections. She’s the kind of person who lifts others up, and now she needs us to lift her.
Why We Set This Goal
We’ve set an initial goal of $12,000 to help cover the immediate medical expenses and critical bills that have already started piling up. As treatments progress, we may need to raise the goal to help with ongoing care and living expenses, but reaching this first milestone will give us some relief and allow us to focus on helping my mom get stronger.
