Help Protect Cats of Las AlpujarrasWe are on a mission to save and protect as many cats and kittens as we can. The wonderful stray and feral cats of Las Alpujarras are one of the great attractions to the area, watching them bask in the sun and play at dusk, the place really wouldn’t feel right without them.So why do we want to spay and neuter them you may ask? Of course it would be lovely for more kittens to be born and for them to roam free in the mountains and meadows, have enough food and water and somewhere safe and dry to escape the cold nights, or even better, for them all to be homed with caring and loving people! Sadly, this is far from what happens in reality…The lives of many stray cats are at constant risk, they often go starving hungry, become terribly thin, mother cats die because their kittens drain the life out of them, sometimes kittens are even eaten if it’s the only source of food. In cases closer to and in towns and cities, some people see these poor animals as pests and can be very cruel to them, all because they don’t like the fact they’re tying to keep themselves alive by coming closer to the homes of humans. It’s got to the stage now where there are simply not enough safe homes, even in the wild, for these poor creatures and the only way to help them is to help control their population. We domesticated them because we wanted to be able to use them for vermin control and companionship, now it’s time we took some responsibility and looked out for their welfare.Please donate anything you can for this great cause. If we spay/neuter 10 cats now, over 5 years could save the lives of almost 400,000 cats! It really would be a fantastic achievement. We can’t save them all, but we can do our very best to try.
