Help the Cecil Family Through Medical Crisis
Story
I’m Heather, and Amber (Bird) is my bestie. I, as well as so many others, love the whole Cecil family. One thing they don’t need to stress about right now is finances! That’s where we all come in. Medical bills, lost wages, and other unforeseen expenses are piling up! Even if it’s 5, every bit helps! You all know Bird would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it, so let’s take this one worry away from them during this difficult time!
From Bird’s Facebook:
Some of you already know, but for those that don’t, we found out a few weeks ago that Jason has pancreatic cancer. Today he undergoes a Whipple procedure to remove the large tumor in the head of his pancreas. It’s about a 6-hour procedure, and then he will be in the hospital for 10-14 days.
We appreciate all the support, prayers, texts, and well wishes thus far. We’ll keep you all updated. Love from the Cecils. ❤️
UPDATE
First of all, we want to thank each and every one of you for the texts, phone calls, FB posts, and overall general concern and prayers. We feel so loved and supported. This was so scary for us, and you all eased some of that fear.
They were able to remove all the cancer, and it had not spread. Praise be to God. We were told today that they had to make a bigger incision than usual to get the tumor out. They also repaired his hernia that was the size of a cantaloupe. He has an epidural for pain, an NG tube (tube down his nose), and a drain in his abdomen. He’s a bit crankier today, so he’s getting back to his usual Cecil self .
The only not-so-good news is that this rare form of cancer is hereditary, so the kids will need to be checked yearly their whole adult life.
Jason’s got a long way to go, but we are beyond thankful for how well everything went.
Thank you all! We love all of you.
