Story
Hi friends and family,
My name is Justice Wright, and I serve as a youth pastor in our community. I never imagined writing something like this, but I’m reaching out with a humbled heart to share a deeply personal and urgent situation our family is walking through.
Several weeks ago, my wife Krysta went in for what was supposed to be a routine procedure to remove a blockage in her ureter to support kidney function. It should have involved just four small incisions and a short recovery. But something went terribly wrong. Due to complications during surgery, Krysta’s life was put at risk, and what was expected to be a simple operation quickly turned into an emergency.
She was admitted to the ICU and remained in the hospital for 12 days—11 of those days spent correcting damage done in the initial surgery. She underwent multiple procedures, had filters placed in her arteries to prevent clots, and is now on blood thinners for the foreseeable future until all procedures are complete and she is at a lesser risk for clots. Her recovery has been incredibly hard and emotional, and she is still not out of the woods.
Krysta now faces at least two more surgeries: one to remove her kidney now, due to risks that come from trying the original surgery again, and another to remove the clot filters placed during her hospital stay. She will need ongoing scans and ultrasounds—likely for the rest of her life.
Due to her condition, she can’t drive and requires full-time in-home care. Her mom has taken time off work to help care for her, and we’re doing our best to manage day by day. As the sole provider, I’ve been doing everything I can to balance my work as a pastor, caring for Krysta, and maintaining our home. It’s been overwhelming at times.
Many of you know that Krysta left her job and moved to Florence so we could follow God’s call to serve here together. She’s been deeply involved in our church—serving, loving people, and supporting me every step of the way. Now she needs our support.
We’re asking for help in whatever way you feel led—through prayer, sharing this page, or giving financially. Every gift, no matter the size, will go directly to Krysta’s medical care, prescriptions, transportation, future surgeries, and the support our household needs in this season.
This has shaken us, but we still trust that God is with us. We’re grateful beyond words for the friends and family walking with us through this.
With love and grattitude,
Justice & Krysta Wright
