Story

Hi, my name is TJ Hughes, and I am reaching out on behalf of Jared Martin — a loving father, brother, and friend who has always prioritized his family and others before himself. Today, Jared needs our support more than ever.

Jared has battled heart issues since he was just 5 years old, which led to the placement of a defibrillator to keep his heart beating regularly. Now, he is currently at Duke Hospital, bravely awaiting a life-saving heart transplant. He is on an intra-aortic balloon pump, a device that assists his heart in pumping blood throughout his body. Due to his condition and the need for this device, he cannot leave the hospital until he receives his transplant.

His journey has been filled with unimaginable challenges, but his spirit remains resilient. The doctors at Duke have informed us that he may be waiting up to a year for a suitable donor heart. While we remain hopeful for a successful transplant, the road ahead is long and uncertain — and the financial strain is mounting.

We are seeking support to help cover the mounting medical expenses, travel costs, and the costs associated with being away from home during this difficult time. Any donations received will go directly to Jared to help alleviate these financial burdens and ensure he can focus on his recovery.
