We’re reaching out on behalf of our dear daughter/sister/mother, Christine Savage, a 39-year-old single mom who is the heart and soul of her family. She’s raising two incredible children—a 16-year-old son with dreams of becoming a surgeon and a spirited 5-year-old daughter who adores her mom fiercely. Christine has always been a pillar of strength, working tirelessly to provide for her kids while filling their home with love and laughter. But for the past few years, she’s been fighting a serious health battle that’s tested her resilience.
A couple of years ago, Christine was diagnosed with myocarditis, a condition that caused multiple mini heart attacks. These episodes drained her energy, making it hard to juggle her demanding 60-hour + workweeks and care for her children. Despite her determination to keep going, the condition has taken a toll on her ability to manage daily life. She’s an exceptional worker, but her health challenges have made it increasingly difficult to maintain the vitality she’s known for.
To manage her condition, doctors implanted a pacemaker and defibrillator. For a while, this gave her some stability, allowing her to continue being the devoted mom and hard worker we all admire. But over time, the device has gone off unexpectedly, each shock a terrifying reminder of her fragile health. Seven weeks ago, while sitting at her desk, the defibrillator fired, landing her in the hospital for three days. Doctors performed an ablation to address the heart’s irregular rhythms, but just a week later, while driving her kids to school, another shock nearly caused her to pass out. Thanks to the quick response of kind strangers who called 911, she made it to the hospital. There, doctors delivered life-changing news: Christine likley needs a heart transplant, but they would try another ablation first.
This was a heartbreaking moment for our family. Christine was airlifted to a specialized hospital for a second ablation, a procedure to disconnect the nerves causing her heart’s dangerous arrhythmias. If successful, this could give her a chance at a longer, healthier life hopefully avoidinga transplant for now. She is still in the hospital and the road ahead is daunting, and she needs our help more than ever.
Christine’s dream is to watch her children grow, see them chase their dreams, and one day celebrate their weddings and meet their children. Short-term, she longs to tend her garden, cook nutritious meals for her kids, and regain the strength to live without constant fear. To do this, she needs time to heal, focus on her health, and manage her condition without the stress of mounting bills. Her home also needs some urgent repairs—a refrigerator on its last legs and a broken washing machine are adding to her worries.
We’re asking for your support to help Christine through this challenging time. Your donations will cover additional medical expenses, including hospital stays and ongoing care, as well as household needs like replacing the refrigerator and washing machine. This support will give her the peace of mind to focus on recovery, exercise, and preparing healthy meals, so she can return to work as the vibrant, capable woman we know she is.
