A Heartfelt Request for Support: Help Our Son, Kai, Reach His Full Potential
We’re reaching out with a deeply personal request that could change the life of our son, Kai. Kai has recently been diagnosed with Level 2 Nonverbal Autism. He’s a bright, happy boy with an infectious spirit, but every day, he faces significant challenges, particularly when it comes to communicating his needs. As his parents, we are doing everything we can to give him the best chance to grow, thrive, and unlock his full potential.
Kai’s autism may not always be obvious, but the struggles we face as a family are real and constant. From head banging and hitting to meltdowns caused by sensory overload and changes in routine, these are challenges we face every day. But perhaps the hardest part is the deep frustration Kai feels because he’s unable to express himself in the way we all take for granted. We hold onto the hope that one day, Kai will be able to say “Mama” or “Dada”—simple words that would mean the world to us.
That’s why we are seeking treatment at the Neurosolution Center of Austin, a one-of-a-kind facility led by Dr. Crawford. Dr. Crawford and his team have helped children and adults from all over the world with innovative neuroscience and technology-based therapies. While this treatment won’t cure Kai’s autism, it offers a real opportunity for significant progress in his communication, emotional regulation, and overall development.
To give you some background, our journey has been shaped by something we couldn’t have predicted. Shortly after we moved into our home, I (Sandy) began experiencing severe vertigo, headaches, weight loss, and other health issues. After extensive testing, we discovered that our home had black mold. Tragically, I was exposed to it throughout my pregnancy with Kai, and Kai himself was exposed during his first year of life. By the time Kai was tested at just 11 months old, his system was burdened with near-adult levels of mycotoxins.
Though Kai has always been a joyful child, we began noticing that something wasn’t right—speech delays, missed milestones, and developmental concerns that weren’t being fully addressed by the therapy and detoxing we had been doing. We now understand that the mold exposure has had a lasting impact on Kai’s brain. This is why the opportunity to work with Dr. Crawford, using light therapy to target the areas of Kai’s brain affected by the mold, is so critical.
The treatment at the Neurosolution Center is intensive, but it could be life-changing for Kai. The cost breakdown is as follows:
Initial evaluation: 515/hr (1-2 hours)
Twice-daily therapy sessions for two weeks: 30,000
Home therapy equipment: 13,478
Additional travel, hotel, and food expenses
We’ll need to travel to Austin, Texas for about 2.5 weeks to undergo this treatment. While the financial burden is significant, the potential benefit for Kai’s development is beyond words.
If you feel moved to help, any contribution—no matter the size—would mean more than we can express. Your support will provide Kai with the chance to access therapies that could open doors to a brighter, more connected future for him. Together, we can help him bridge the gap to the world around him.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and belief in Kai’s potential.
