Rally for Rell: A Community’s Call to Action

Hi friends and family!

I’m reaching out for support for some of my best friends and role models in our community, Rell Booker and his wife, Laura along with their children, Kal’el and Kameron.

Early in May, Rell had some serious health scares including a severe rash that covered his body and an extremely high fever which lasted for multiple days, resulting in fierce night sweats and multiple hospitalizations. He was put on antibiotics and unable to get any real answers on what was going on. Finally, a middle-of-the-night ambulance trip resulting from a high fever, chest pains, extreme headache, and utter incoherence got him to St. Luke’s, who was able to run some tests and do a spinal tap, finding an infection in his brain.
Rell is currently on around-the-clock monitoring and IV antibiotics and is unable to return to work.
Laura is now taking trips back and forth to the hospital, caring for their babies, and trying to work enough to make ends meet and cover unanticipated medical bills while they help Rell to heal.

As most of you know, Rell is a podcast host of “Talk Wit Ya Mouf Full” where he meets with local businesses and entrepreneurs to network and grow. He has hosted community events and uses his time and resources to pour into our youth and improve our community.

I’m asking for us as a community to come together and support this family to lessen the financial burden and get Rell better so he can get back to his fun, lovable, and somewhat annoying self 🙂
