We’re reaching out to share Hannah Tate’s story. She is facing unexpected medical expenses and loss of work while battling breast cancer.

Hannah learned she was positive with BRCA 1 in 2022 with a 23andMe home screening kit and it was subsequently confirmed with further genetic testing. She went on a high-risk surveillance regimen that included screening every 6 months. She decided to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy after having her two daughters, Claire (3 years old) and Lainey (1 year old). Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, while awaiting scheduling for her mastectomy in January of 2025. She underwent a double mastectomy in March and subsequently started chemotherapy due to the aggressive nature of the breast cancer.

Hannah experienced further health issues this past week. A blood clot formed on her catheter port and she was prescribed a blood thinner (Xarelto) to treat it. This led to complications including significant uterine bleeding and blood clots in her lungs called pulmonary embolisms (PEs). The PEs caused strain on her heart, leading to very fast and irregular heartbeats called supraventricular tachycardia. She spent a week in the hospital to manage bleeding, restart her blood-thinning medication, and stabilize her heart rhythm.

Hannah has returned home and is re-starting chemotherapy soon to complete the prescribed 4 cycle regiment, lasting a total of 3 months. After finishing her chemotherapy, she will proceed with a prophylactic hysterectomy and oophorectomy in August due to her high risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer. She will be out of work for 6 weeks out and have a 10 lb lifting restriction. The last surgery will be a breast reconstruction in November where she will again be out of work to recover from.

Hannah has shown courage and resilience throughout this journey. The extended Tate family have continued to go above and beyond to help with childcare and additional support. The Westminster Police Department that Tyler works for has organized a food train to help the family.

One of the best ways to support Hannah would be to financially give to help offset the cost of medical bills and living expenses. Hannah is trying to continue to work at the hospital as much as she can through this journey, but the complications and additional surgeries were unexpected. Please consider donating, sharing on your social media page, or leaving an encouraging message down below. Together we can have a large impact in supporting her and her beautiful family during this trying time. The donations will go directly to her personal bank account and we will be updating this GoFundMe page throughout the year.
