Story
Allan Blancas has always been the kind of person who answers the call when someone is in need. Alongside his wife Karen, Allan has spent years helping friends and family offering rides, providing jobs, and supporting anyone who needed a hand. Now, Allan is facing the toughest challenge of his life: a diagnosis of Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, blood, spine, and chest wall. The overwhelming spread of cancer has forced Allan and Karen to make monthly trips from their home in New Orleans to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, for treatment.
During a recent trip for treatment, Allan suffered his second massive heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Tests revealed multiple blockages in his heart and an infection in one of his valves and blood. He is now scheduled for open heart surgery in Houston, far from home, adding even more strain to an already difficult situation. The distance and the seriousness of his condition have made it nearly impossible for Allan and Karen to run their business, and the financial burden is growing. They are facing mounting medical bills, travel expenses for gas, food, and lodging, and lost income from being away from work for months.
The last two years have been filled with challenges, moments of hope, and moments of despair. Through it all, Allan and Karen’s faith and the support of their community have kept them going. This fundraiser is a way for those who have been touched by their kindness to give back in their time of need. We are asking for help to cover medical bills, travel, and living expenses, and we also ask for your continued prayers and support as Allan faces open heart surgery and ongoing cancer treatment.
