The aim of the project is simple: to teach English to the children at our training centre in Zaatari Village, Jordan, for a total of 66 classes. These classes will take place twice per week between September 2017 and May 2018, and will provide approximately 75 children with a fun and educational course in the English language!

Teaching English will help give the children of Zaatari the ability to lead their communities in the future, protect their civil and human rights, and secure access to future employment opportunities. The war in Syria has left the refugee children in Zaatari Village without access to a good education for many years now. Through no fault of their own, their future opportunities are being taken away from them. It’s time to help turn this around, through helping to provide them with some of the skills and opportunities they need to rebuild their futures!

Lessons will be one hour long, two days per week, taking place each morning before the children attend the government schools. Our project team is currently in the process of designing lesson plans, recruiting volunteer teachers, securing transportation plans, and preparing everything we need for a successful year ahead.

The project is not only focused on providing the children with quality English language lessons, but also on addressing critical issues in their education more broadly. In addition to providing classes, our volunteer teachers will trained to identify cases of mental health by an international medical charity. This will then allow us to refer any children experiencing trauma and anxiety to professional counsellors, in order to help heal the mental wounds of the war.

The money you donate will be spent on two main areas:

1.) The materials needed for the lesson plans (including printing costs). 2.) The transportation costs including the costs of renting a car and buying fuel.

Here is a specific breakdown of the costs associated with the project: Transportation (car rental and fuel): £38 per day, £2700 total

Printing and Teaching Material Costs: £450 total
