As you are aware of the growing conflict in Afghanistan, for Hazara women, girls and their families this is a time of utmost danger and they are the ones most impacted.

Over the past few months we have been receiving calls from worried family and friends who are absolutely terrified and fear for their lives in Kabul – terrified for the safety of their young children and women. We need your support to help them survive and get to safety.

The Hazara community of Afghanistan have been persecuted by the Taliban for their ethnicity, religion and appearance. Hazaras are great and activists of democracy and women’s rights. They have often been the target of attacks in schools, universities and within their mosques (see articles linked).

The situation now with the collapse of the government has made life extremely dangerous for women and girls. They cannot go outside and are hiding in their homes. The Taliban has lists of of people and are going door to door, targeting minorities and activists. They are asking for boys and girls as young as 12. They fear being kidnapped from their homes.

I am raising money to help women, children and their families get essential food, medicines, shelter. The situation has just started and hearing from families on the ground we know it will become even more dangerous as the conflict intensifies.

I am hoping to raise $25,000AUD to help Hazara families, women and children to seek better safety, get urgent food and medical supplies.

Some banks are open, so we are now able to get funds to families who urgently need it. The families will use these funds to purchase food and medicines.

There are families who are seeking Asylum in Pakistan who need assistance with finding accomodation, food, clothing and other costs to resettle in the new country.
