Albany Water Truck for Gaza

Many people feel helpless seeing the suffering in Gaza. We live so far away—how can we possibly help?

This campaign is for our town to do something real and immediate: raise the funds to provide two truckloads of desalinated drinking water to a displacement camp in the north of Gaza.

In Gaza, much of the available water is brackish, with a high salt content that can cause kidney disease and kidney failure. Dirty water also spreads waterborne diseases and parasites, which are especially dangerous for children and the elderly. With fuel restrictions and damaged infrastructure, clean water is scarce and expensive. Many families walk for kilometres and wait for hours just to fill a few containers—sometimes returning home with less than they need for the day.

For $850 AUD, we can send a 4,000-litre truck directly into a camp where hundreds of families are living in tents with no reliable access to clean water. The truck will be organised and documented by a trusted volunteer on the ground, ensuring the water reaches those who need it most.

This is a chance for Albany to stand together, send a message of care, and directly meet one of the most urgent needs in Gaza right now.

Every dollar goes straight to funding the water. Together, we can make a difference.

On 27 August, Albany’s second water truck reached northern Gaza. Thousands of litres of clean, desalinated drinking water were delivered to families who have lost everything and are living in displacement.

For many, this was the first safe water they had in days. In Gaza, most wells are brackish and polluted — drinking from them causes kidney disease, parasites, and illness. But thanks to your generosity, families were able to fill their containers with water that will keep their children alive.

This delivery was made possible by you — by every person in Albany who donated, shared, and stood in solidarity. And by our trusted volunteer Mahmoud, who organised the truck on the ground with courage and care.

In the midst of siege and famine, our community’s love crossed the world. From Albany to Gaza, your kindness is bringing life and hope. ❤️

We’re pleased to let you know that the Albany community has funded and delivered our first water truck in northern Gaza. The truck carried around 4,000 litres of clean drinking water from a desalination plant.

This delivery was organised and distributed by our trusted volunteer Mahmoud, reaching displaced families who are currently living in tents without reliable access to safe water. Clean water is critical in preventing kidney disease and water-borne illness, and it eases some of the daily struggle people face in trying to find enough to drink.

This is a strong start, and it shows what we can do together. We’re now fundraising for the second truck, so we can continue providing this essential support.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make this first delivery possible.
