Brian Davis has worked at the Torrance Refinery for nearly 10 years, and is one of our brightest employees always going above & beyond to keep his colleagues (and the Alky) safe. He takes all of his engineers & contractors under his wing, showing them the ropes and becoming a close friend. From his youth in the Army serving our country overseas, to his years in the police force serving Memphis, Brian has crossed paths with many people who all have a fond memory or funny story to share about him.
For the past few months, the refinery has been missing the laughter & liveliness that Brian brings. On December 15, 2016 Brian was in a motorcycle accident on the freeway. He suffered severe injuries, including a fractured spine and neck, multiple broken ribs and head trauma. He underwent surgery and was unable to walk, eat, speak and even breathe on his own. A few weeks ago there was a positive shift in his recovery as the swelling in his brain subsided, and he spoke for the first time. Since that moment he has been getting stronger and the physical therapy began. He was a patient at 3 different hospitals over the past 2 months. He was just recently released home and is walking much better on his own.
Brian continues to go to physical therapy several days a week, but the doctors are not yet sure when he’ll be able to return to work. His wife Tish has been by his side since the accident, taking care of him and their 2 children. The bills are just beginning to come in, and insurance has not covered 100% of the costs. Also, home mortgage and daily expenses don’t take a break even when one is unable to go to work.
We all know health is the most important thing in life. If you get injured or ill the financial impacts can last long after the recovery is over. Especially if you are the sole income provider for your household, as Brian is. He is strong and will get through this with the support of his family & friends. Let’s not allow medical bills & time away from work set him back in life. By donating any amount, you can ease the burden of medical bills on his family. And Brian can focus on coming back to work & making everyone laugh together again.

God be with you Brian. You have so many people who care about you – work is not the same place with your empty chair. Rest while you can. By the way, I’m taking your motorcycle away when you come back, lol
