My name is Rebecca Goodman, and in January 2019 i will be heading to Vietnam for a community healthcare placement for 3 weeks. In the remote region of Mai Châu, we will be conducting primary healthcare outreach clinics and attending local hospitals/clinics in the area. In collaboration with local nursing staff, the GU and USQ teams we will provide a free health service and health education sessions to approximately 140 villagers that do not have access to regular healthcare.
The donations raised will go towards providing basic health services and health education for these communities. Previous donations have also helped to provide resources for health education, clean water supply for school-children, electricity supply and equipment to remote clinics, maintenance of local ambulance and transfer of acutely ill patients to hospital for treatment. In addition, our group hopes to raising money for the Mai Châu hosptial playground and recreational area.
The clinics and communities in Vietnam are basic, often lacking in much needed resources to deliver care. Money raised will go towards items such as medical equipment and resources, Days for Girls kits, educational toys, school resources, sports equipment, clothes, toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap. Each group of students is requested to raise funds to assist with the purchase of these items.
