As the Wilkinsons face yet another fight, we are rallying friends and family to support them through this latest challenge. Recently, Alex was diagnosed with Stage III sigmoid colon cancer and will soon begin chemotherapy once fully healed from a major surgery that removed a foot of his intestine. Alex’s health battle comes after his wife Vicky was diagnosed with leukemia just last November. After nearly a year of chemotherapy, she is thankfully in remission, but the journey has been incredibly difficult. Mounting medical bills, medical leave from both working parents and constant two hour round trip drives to the hospital, all while remaining strong raising their two amazing daughters, Lyra and Rylin. Now the fight has shifted to Alex, a fight we are fully confident he will win. Anyone who knows Alex knows the kind of person he is. He is the friend who shows up no matter what, constantly upbeat, always bringing light to the room. Even on the face of this waking nightmare, he still found time to support his friends, share a laugh, and carry on better than ever to be expected. Despite all he’s carried this past year including working long hours, taking on both parenting roles caring for his daughters, being the pilar strength and support during his wife’s cancer battle- he has remained unshakably positive. The last thing this special family should have to worry about is the financial burden as a result of this difficult time. This is why we are graciously asking our community and beyond to help in any way possible. Every contribution makes the journey a little less treacherous for the Wilkinson family, who has never asked for anything, but is nevertheless held up by a community who doesn’t want them suffering in silence and fighting alone.
