Hello, my name is Erin and I want to start by thanking you for taking the time to listen to my brother-in-law’s story. Some of you are aware that Shawn has recently been diagnosed with Melanoma. While the family is maintaining a positive and optimistic attitude, the challenges are beginning to surface. On July 21, 2025, upon returning home from work, Shawn collapsed and suffered a seizure. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital where the initial suspect was heat stroke, but within a couple of short hours, it was clear that he was facing a cancer diagnosis. After the initial visit to MD Anderson, the doctors have diagnosed Shawn with Stage 4 M1D (spread into his central nervous system) Melanoma as it has metastasized to his adrenal glands, lungs, and brain. The treatment plan includes multiple trips to MD Anderson in Houston to undergo radiation, immunotherapy, possible chemotherapy, and future brain surgery. The costs associated with Shawn’s treatment are overwhelming for the family as they plan for hospital visits, travel expenses, and medications. Lost wages will certainly play a part in their financial burden as well. We humbly come forward to ask for any support that you are able to give throughout their ongoing journey. No matter how small, every donation will assist the family in alleviating the stress that has been placed on them. From our family to yours, we truly appreciate each and every one of you and ask that you share Shawn’s story with your loved ones.
