Words can’t fully express how my family and I have been feeling these past couple of months. We never expected my mom, Adriana, to get sick, but unfortunately it’s been about two years treating her lung disease. She first got sick with pneumonia back in 2023, was “treated” by her PCP. As time went by, she got sick again with pneumonia and Covid and was under the care of valley pulmonary specialists who pretty much had us going in a loop. They couldn’t explain what was causing the infection that was scarring her lungs, and suggested we go to San Antonio for a lung transplant evaluation back in October 2024. The pulmonary transplant team has been great and has managed to keep my mom stable. July 20, 2025, she had a flare up and pain that she has not experienced before, which was infection that has worsened her lungs and making it difficult to perform simple tasks. As of now she is stable and has been on an oxygen 24/7 for about a year, but she has not been the same physically and mentally. August 22, 2025 the board has officially approved her case for a bilateral lung transplant which may take 3-6 months or a year due to her size and needs to match. The purpose of this go fund me is to help cover medical expenses insurance will not cover post surgery and for recovery, since it is unpredictable. My sister and I miss our mom’s strong character. We want her back. She is always there for anyone in need and never asks for anything back. We have her home in the valley where is comfortable, but is also being monitored by close friends and family while we wait for the call. I don’t have current pictures of her. For the ones who have met my mom, know she would go after me if I posted her in a condition she does not like and I will respect her wishes. This transplant will improve her quality of life. We have faith in God that everything will be okay. Anything helps, prayers, sharing. Thank you, Briones-Garcia family
