My name is Peter Fikes, and I am starting this GoFundMe for my wonderful father, Craig Fikes. Many of you in the community may know my father from church, school events, my sister and I, or just seen him around town. He also may have installed your Verizon service! My dad is a pillar of our family, and he has consistently made sacrifices for us. Additionally, my dad has been the sole provider and power of attorney for his sister, my Aunt Kathleen, for years. My Aunt suffers from dementia, and my dad stepped up and provided her with care, money, and resources she desperately needed. To this day, my father helps pay her bills and expenses, as she is living in an assisted living facility. He is truly the best dad and brother anyone could ever ask for. Unfortunately, my father also lost his job this summer after almost 30 years at Verizon and has had to navigate the challenges that come with being unable to work. On Thursday, August 21, 2025, my father suffered a stroke and a brain aneurysm in his home. Luckily, my sister Kira and I were home at the time and able to get him the medical attention he needed. Since then, it has been some okay days, some bad days, and some very bad days. As a family, we are learning to navigate our new reality and also process what has happened. My dad is still currently in the ICU and will likely remain there for weeks to come. With this in mind, we have decided to be proactive and make this fundraiser to help ease the financial stress of not only his bills, but my aunt’s bills as well. My dad also helps pay for my sister and I’s college expenses, and takes amazing care of his two cats. I think if my dad knew we were doing this, he would tell us it was unnecessary, as he is the most humble and generous man I’ve ever known. But we as a family understand the gravity of this situation, and we are going to prove to him how many people he has in his corner. I would love to show him that his community will show up for him, as he has shown up for us our whole lives. Please help us prove to him how loved he is, and how many of you out there are praying for his health and wellbeing. Thank you for your support!
