Help My Dad Recover After a Heart Attack Hi, my name is Lacey Norton, and I’m fundraising for my dad, Matthew Norton, and our family in general. Donating will go to help with medical bills, and the overall recovery process. On Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, my dad reached out to my mother and me, complaining of pain on his right side, was having anxiety and body aches . Right then and there, I knew there was something wrong because my dad and I always had a connection through our hearts and through our guts. I begged him to go to the ER in Phoenix, AZ, due to being on a work trip, but he said he was going to sleep it off. He came to the impression of having the flu, which clearly wasn’t the case. On Thursday, August 21st, my dad got on his flight back to MN. He was then wheelchaired to his car and made it to my mom’s house. He went to bed shortly after arriving at my mom’s. Friday morning, August 22nd, my mom finally convinced my dad to go to the doctor. They went to urgent care where he was then immediately rushed across the street to the ER. He had been in an active heart attack for 3 days and they don’t know how he made it through the flight home. My mom said everything happened so quickly. The next thing she knew, he was being taken into surgery for a stent. When he woke up from this procedure, he couldn’t breathe, his lungs were filled with fluid so they had to intubate him. That wasn’t enough so my dad was transferred over to the University of MN hospital where he was placed on life support (VA ECMO) as well as a placement of a second stent. They are giving him blood thinners for two blood clots and 24 hr constant care. We have been told once he is able to be slowly taken off the machines they can check for heart damage, what the next steps will be and the recovery process which could be weeks maybe months of his life. Please help my family in this time of need. We don’t know what is going to happen. We are praying he wakes up and can start to recover. Check back to this page to see daily update on my dad’s journey. Anything is appreciated in this hard time, my dad is my best friend.
