Donate to Support Shawn O’Keefe’s Battle with Cancer, organized by Jess O’Keefe

*their children don’t know this information just yet* In the last week, our family has heard the phrase that everyone dreads: late-stage cancer. Shawn, really thinking he might have a hernia with abdominal pain, had an abdominal CAT scan that revealed many tumors. It was the beginning of a terrible journey for Shawn, his loving wife Juliette and their three young boys: Lennon 7, Theo 4, and Connell 2. Boys who desperately need their father for his hugs, dirt bike rides and everything else. And so, with tears in our eyes, we are setting up this GoFundMe for Shawn O’Keefe. Upon receiving this news, our family was devastated, as you all can imagine. Shawn went right in the hospital and stayed for 5 days of tests and biopsies. Numerous tumors have been identified as well as lymph nodes in his chest, possibly pointing to more disease. Our family has been by his side as he and Juliette bravely began this journey (while Juliette also navigated the first days of teaching special education at her high school and Lennon started 2nd grade!) It’s been determined that Shawn will have the first, of possibly many, surgeries for an additional tumor that was found during his hospital stay. That first surgery will be August 29. The next steps of treatment for Shawn are still unclear at this time; yet everything points towards extensive chemotherapy or an extremely invasive procedure called CRS-HIPEC. Between the hospital stay, possible treatments, medications and time away from work; we want to ensure the last thing Shawn and Juliette have to worry about is their finances. Every donation will go directly to them, to try and make at least one part of this journey seem less scary.
