My cousin Mary and her husband Mike experienced the joy of welcoming their second daughter, Lenora Rayne, to the world on August 12th. However, as what happens in life, some things don’t go as planned. Lenora was diagnosed with an enclosed spina bifida, which as far as we know, has not permanently affect her movement or mobility, but will require neurosurgery to examine and repair. At 2 weeks old, she also underwent surgery on her intestinal tract, that will requires colostomy bag for the first 3 to 6 months of her life and possibly have further reaching affects down the line. Since bad seems to come in threes, she was also born unable to efficiently breathe on her own due to having extremely narrow nasal passages and had to be intubated, with possible need for procedures in the future to help dilate her airways. She has had small positive improvements, but in the end, she’ll be experiencing a very long and unknown road to recovery. Lenora has been fighting since day one wanting nothing more than to eat and breathe like a normal baby, which gives us hope that things will have a positive outcome. With all of the unknown Mary and Mike face including time off of work and medical bills that will start coming in, I’d love if we can all show them love and support! Even if you cannot donate financially, sharing this will also help by possibly reaching someone else that can.
