Evacuating Hamid from Gaza for Cancer Treatments

My name is Danielle, I am a college student in the US running this campaign for my friend Hamid in Gaza. Please support my friend by reading his story below and donating to the campaign:

“Hello, my name is Hamid, I am a 28-year-old man from Gaza. I am writing my story while I am inside the tent that has become our shelter instead of our home. Since my childhood and early youth, I have been suffering from chronic and persistent headaches, and I take some painkillers to alleviate them. When I turned 17, this condition worsened, so I underwent some tests, which revealed that I have had a brain tumor (cancer) since my childhood, and I need to undergo urgent surgery to remove it. However, within Gaza, it was very difficult because it is a complex operation that takes several hours. Therefore, I had to travel abroad for the surgery, accompanied by my mother. The issue did not stop there, and it was found that as a complication of this illness, I have visual impairment in my left eye, which I still suffer from. I must also have regular brain scans (MRI). Due to the war over the past year, I have not had any scans done! I also need surgery for my eye, but I couldn’t do it because I am in Gaza! I need to travel to complete this surgery and to ensure my well-being.

In March 2023, while I was away from home, I was injured during a missile attack, resulting in a broken wrist, and I have not had surgery for it. I tried many times to travel due to my injury, but I was unable to! Now I suffer from this injury on top of my illness. I am a young man, and I graduated from university with a degree in Public Relations and Media. I struggled a lot to complete my education. The most important thing is that this illness has a greater impact on my professional and work life, as I am unable to work in most fields due to my disability. I always try to find a job that fits my situation. Before the war, I worked part-time at a restaurant to support myself, but for more than a year, I have not been able to find any suitable job.

It is important to mention that my family and I were displaced from our home on May 11, 2023, and sought refuge in a tent. After months of leaving our home and city, we received the news that our house had been completely destroyed in an airstrike. Now, I live in a tent with six members of my family. I am without a home, job, or source of income, and my health is poor. I had saved some money to establish my own project since I could never secure a job or position. I also dreamed of getting married, but now I have nothing because of the difficult circumstances. I need your help to be able to travel, continue my treatment, and establish my own project, which will allow me to support myself, get a permanent job, marry, and rebuild our house.”
