PDX Pigeon Mutual Aid is a small team of friends and organizers located in Portland Oregon. We provide direct support to families in G@za. All the families have been displaced multiple times, and are facing the most dire and dangerous conditions on our planet right now.

We are using this group fund to increase equity, as it is often that some campaigns will receive more donations than others. Sometimes a family may not receive any donations for over a month and truly cannot survive without this supplemental cash aid. We will also try to organize larger community distributions of food, water, medical supplies & care, clothes, diapers, tents and other necessary resources. It is easier and less expensive to organize larger distributions than for each individual family to access and purchase things separately. It does require a larger amount of money upfront though.

We are hoping to raise enough money to provide rotating weekly distributions for what is most needed.

Each family we support has been verified by video chat, phone call, and a P@lestian ID, through an already verified friend or family member, or through some combination of the above. You can learn more by visiting our instagram, @pdxpigeonmutualaid . These same families will be organizing the distributions with the funds we provide them.

Our hope is to always try to connect families in G@z@ with as many other on-the-ground organizations as possible, but we are seeing more and more that getting aid from these groups is sometimes impossible and very dangerous in terms of traveling to find these groups and actually connecting with these groups in the first place. While NGOs still offer some forms of aid on the ground, many of them continue to have their aid compromised, stripped, halted, or destroyed before getting into G@z@, so the only actual guaranteed form of support right now is direct donations.

G@z@ is reaching an extremely critical point in the ongoing g*noc*d* where forced starvation, disease, and dehydration are beginning to deeply set in–we must act together as quickly as possible.

Together we can give them some very small glimmer of hope in the darkest times imaginable.

Our mutual aid group will do our best to offer updates and transparency reports that you can access. Email [email protected] for more info.

Thank you so much for your care, your donations, your solidarity and support! You are truly saving lives.

With much gratitude,

PDX Pigeon Mutual Aid

The past few weeks have been particularly difficult for the families we’re supporting, and they are urgently in need of your help.

– Farah (age 21) had a miscarriage of her first pregnancy, had to have an operation, and due to ongoing bleeding needs another surgery. She owes the hospital around $1500 for the first surgery, and due to the high volume of patients and demand for care, she has been told that the surgery has to wait until she can pay off the debt and pay $500 towards this next surgery. Due to malnutrition and lack of good food and water, her body does not have the nutrition needed to recover as one normally would.

– Asmaa (mother of 3 young children) has been given evacuation orders, but is unable to leave the area she’s staying, due to lack of funds. She needs $700 in order to evacuate. The area is under active bombing, and she has sent me multiple audio clips of the sounds of explosions very close by. She is absolutely terrified. Her husband is recovering from shrapnel injuries, and his body is also struggling to heal due to lack of nutrition and water.

– Mahbouba (mother of 2 young children) is desperate for food (as are all the families we are supporting). Food prices are insanely high, with a kilo of flour costing around $100 USD.

Ways you can help:

1) Donate (even a small amount makes a big difference!).

2) Share their stories and this fundraiser with your friends and family.

3) Commit to ongoing support for one of these families. Consider setting up a small recurring monthly donation, or set reminders to check for updates on them and their needs so that you can help if you can.

Any donations made to this group distribution fund will be divided up between the families we support, based on urgency of need.

Thank you!

Thank you to our donors for supporting our Group distribution fund. In the past month we have raised $85. This fund is currently being used to suplement some of our family’s that have not received as much donations. So far we have given $60 to Farah from the funds raised in February because her campaign has not been doing very well and she is very sick and currently in the hospital and needs extra support. This group fund greatly helps increase the equity of this project. And if we can get enough funds saved in this campaign then we can organize a large group (neighborhood) distribution of food or get a water truck ordered. Please keep supporting PDX Pigeon Mutual Aid and our families in G^za. They will continue to need lots of help to survive as they try to rebuild their homes and lives.

Thank you to our donors for supporting our Group distribution fund. In the past couple of months, we have raised $235. This fund is currently being used to suplement some of our family’s that have not received as much donations. In January, we used these funds to send cash aid to Roya and Lara whose campaigns have not received as much attention as our other campaigns. This greatly helps increase the equity of this project. If we can get enough funds saved in this campaign and we can organize a large group (neighborhood) distribution of food or get a water truck ordered. Please keep supporting PDX Pigeon Mutual Aid and our families in G^za. They will continue to need lots of help to survive as they try to rebuild their homes and lives.
