Help Alaa, Her Husband, and Baby Escape the Crisis in Gaza

My name is Shaz. I’m a disabled single mother living in the UK, and I’m reaching out from the depths of my heart to ask for your help.

I am raising urgent funds for my dear friend Alaa, a young woman trapped in unimaginable conditions in Gaza with her husband and their 4-month-old baby. Their lives, like so many others in Palestine, have been completely shattered by the ongoing Genocide. There home was destroyed by Isreali bombings and are living in constant danger, with no access to basic necessities, no income, and no way to ensure safety for their baby.

What makes this more urgent is that Alaa is unable to breastfeed due to severe stress and hunger. Infant formula is either impossible to find or unaffordable. Her baby is at real risk of starvation. Every day, they are fighting to survive with little food, no proper shelter, and limited access to clean water or medical care. They are not just surviving war — they are enduring slow starvation.

I cannot sit by and do nothing. That’s why I’ve started this fundraiser — to get Alaa and her family to safety.

We are trying to raise $30,000 (around £23,000) to cover the extremely high costs of evacuation from Gaza. This includes paying for permits, safe passage fees, transportation, and resettlement support. Once they are out, any remaining funds will go toward basic survival needs: food, baby formula, clean water, medication, and hygiene supplies. Plus the fees to send money to Alaa and her family.

Why am I doing this? Because no one should have to choose between starvation and staying alive. No mother should have to watch her baby go hungry, not knowing where the next meal or bottle of milk will come from. I know what it’s like to struggle, but I also know the power of community. Even as a disabled single mother myself, I believe we can lift each other up when the world turns dark.

This campaign is about hope. It’s about refusing to look away. Every donation, no matter the size, is a step closer to saving a family. If you cannot donate, please share this campaign widely. Someone in your circle might be able to help.

Your support could be the reason this baby survives. Your kindness could be the reason this family escapes.

You might be wondering — why does it cost so much to help one family leave Gaza?

Sadly, getting out of Palestine right now is extremely difficult and expensive. There are no safe or open humanitarian corridors, so families must rely on private brokers and unofficial channels to cross the Rafah border into Egypt. These brokers often charge $5,000 to $10,000 per adult just to get a name added to the evacuation list. For a child, it can still cost $1,500 to $3,000.

Once they’re approved to leave, families also need money for:

For Alaa, her husband, and their 4-month-old baby, the cost of escape alone could be $20,000–$25,000, and they’ll need at least another $5,000+ to survive after leaving — just for the basics.

We are not raising funds for luxuries — this is about survival.

No one should have to pay to flee for their life, but this is the painful reality right now. If we reach our goal, we can give this family a chance to live, rebuild, and breathe freely again.

Every donation helps. Every share matters.
