On October 7, Ashraf’s family was forced to flee their home as the conflict erupted in Gaza. Their experience has been marked by continuous displacement, hardship, and loss. Today, we ask for your support in helping Ashraf build a secure home for his family—a place where they can finally feel safe.
Their Journey When the war began, Ashraf’s family left their home and sought refuge in central Gaza. Amid ongoing violence, they endured severe psychological and physical challenges. Ashraf recalls how his father constructed a makeshift tent to protect the children, his mother, and other family members.
As the conflict intensified and Israeli forces advanced into central Gaza, the family was forced to leave the tent and move to Rafah near the UNRWA warehouses. Unfortunately, these areas too were not spared from bombing. With shrapnel, fire, and continuous attacks from air, sea, and land, the situation grew increasingly dangerous. Ashraf’s father sustained injuries while protecting the family during these chaotic moments.
In the days that followed, the family was compelled to move from hospitals to Deir al-Balah, and endured prolonged periods without adequate food, water, or shelter. They suffered significant losses, with several relatives, including an aunt, her children, and other close family members, killed in the violence. Their former home was also destroyed by the relentless shelling.
A New Beginning Despite being displaced seven times since the conflict began, Ashraf is determined to create a stable and safe living environment for his family. His goal is straightforward: to build a secure home where his children, mother, father, and brothers can live without fear or constant displacement.
