Hello my friends.

I am Bilal Ghali, a civil engineer. I love life like you. I graduated from the Islamic University with ambitions of achieving my dream of becoming a distinguished engineer.

Before I continue my story for you, here are some pictures of my beautiful white cat, Jabal.

Like any animal, Jabal enjoyed life. But unfortunately in the Gaza Strip, happiness is always short-lived. A house close to ours was bombed, and Jabal was hit by a piece of shrapnel from the missile. So my beautiful cat Jabal was killed – just as our dreams are being killed in Gaza. He was my beloved friend, and my days are not complete now without him.

We here in the Al-Ghali family consist of my dear father, who is retired, my beautiful mother, five brothers, and two daughters. My big brother’s nickname is Abu Akram. He has two sons and two daughters. We were all displaced together in the Al-Mawasi area, Khan Yunis, after we fled from the former humanitarian zone, Rafah, to Al-Mawasi.

We all hope that we will find a way out of the Gaza Strip and be able to live a semi-happy life.

November update:

Bilal and his three siblings, along with their four young children—including a newborn—are facing an incredibly challenging situation. After being displaced multiple times this year, they’re now living in a tent that’s in desperate need of repair.

Their tent is far from suitable for winter; it’s not waterproof and is poorly insulated, leaving them vulnerable to the harsh elements. As the weather grows colder, the urgency of their situation becomes even more critical.

Bilal’s family urgently needs £930 to secure a proper winter tent, as well as essential food and supplies. Your support can help ensure they stay warm and safe during these difficult months ahead.

Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in their lives. Let’s come together to support Bilal and his family, giving them hope and the basic necessities they need to survive this winter.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

Fundraiser details:

The funds raised will be used for:

Any donations to this fundraiser will be a gift to Bilal Ghali and his family and they’ll allocate the funds according to their needs as their circumstances change. Although the border is currently closed, they still plan to save for when it reopens so they can evacuate to safety.

UK Fundraising organiser:

Hi, I’m Sophie. I live in the UK and I’m helping Bilal to organise this fundraiser for his family, who are in Gaza. We’ve known each other for several months and he’s told me a lot about his traumatic experiences of being displaced due to the aggression.

I look after the fundraising page because it’s not possible to do so from within Palestine. I don’t make any deductions from the donations. The fundraising platform, Stripe and the e-transfer platform we use make small charges for service fees and currency exchange. I don’t hold onto large amounts of money, I just check the balance once a week and send the funds straight to Hani for his family. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
