Help Heather Fight Breast Cancer & Support Her Family
Hi, my name is Melissa, and I’m reaching out on behalf of one of the strongest women I know—my dear friend Heather. If you know her, you know what a fighter she is. If you don’t, let me tell you just a little about the incredible journey she’s been on.
In mid-December, what started as a routine checkup turned into news that would shake any family to its core. A concerning finding led to a mammogram, and within just two weeks, Heather began chemotherapy. She was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and Metastatic Adenocarcinoma—Stage 2. Two masses were found in her left breast, and her lymph node tested positive. Her diagnosis: ER+, PR+, HER2-.
The doctors at the University of Iowa wasted no time and jumped into action with a plan:
16 weeks of chemotherapy
A double mastectomy
Followed by radiation
Heather tackled chemotherapy with the grit and grace of a true warrior—all while continuing to work and show up for her family like the absolute force she is.
Now, as she approaches the next big hurdle—surgery—the reality is that this fight is far from over. Her treatment will continue well into 2026, and the emotional, physical, and financial toll is immense.
This amazing family has done everything they can to keep life moving forward while battling something that tries to pull it all apart. Insurance caps have already been maxed out in 2024 and 2025, and there’s still a long road ahead. The costs—medical bills, gas for the many hospital trips, special clothing for treatment, headwear, groceries, and more—are stacking up fast.
That’s why I’m asking for your help.
If you can, please consider donating. Every dollar helps ease the weight on this family’s shoulders and gives Heather the support she needs to keep fighting. If you can’t give, sharing this page and sending love means the world.
Heather is not just a patient—she’s a mom, a wife, a friend, a fighter, and one of the strongest people I’ve ever known. Let’s show her just how much love and support surrounds her.
Thank you for being part of her village.
