Help Malayah and Her Mom Through Crisis

Story

My name is Rachel Robuste, and I am the Community Liaison at Liberty Elementary. I am reaching out to share a devastating situation involving one of our beloved students in the hope we can provide her and mother with much needed support.

On the evening of Tuesday, May 20th, 7-year-old Malayah Rene’s life was forever changed in a tragic car accident that left her fighting for her life. Malayah suffered devastating injuries, including collapsed lungs, a lacerated liver, and traumatic brain injuries. She remains in critical condition, drifting in and out of consciousness, while a dedicated team of doctors works tirelessly to stabilize her. Her prognosis is still unknown, and every day is a battle.

Her mother, a single parent, was employed at the time and working hard to rebuild their lives after experiencing homelessness. They had been living in a motel, trying to find stability and hope. Now, with Malayah in the ICU, her mom has had to stop working to stay by her daughter’s side—she hasn’t left the hospital since the accident. With no family able to support them and financial resources quickly running out, they are facing an unimaginable crisis.

This fundraiser is a plea for help—to cover overwhelming medical expenses, daily necessities, and to give Malayah and her mom a fighting chance. Any support you can give will go directly toward helping them through this heartbreaking time. Thank you for standing with them when they need it most.
