Help Noura and her family survive the horrors of war
United States
My name is Joann. I have created this campaign to support my friend Noura. Noura, like me, has dedicated her life and education to supporting students with special needs. In July 2023, Noura graduated with her Master degree in Special Education from Al-Quds Open University. Noura hasn’t had a chance to use her degree, as her life as she knew it changed in October 2023. Read what Noura’s life is like now…
I am Noura Ramadan from the Gaza Strip. Our life before the war was simple and full of hope. We had a business, shops, a home in the city, and another in the countryside. Our life was stable and secure, and we didn’t need anything. But because of the war, we lost our homes, our businesses, and everything we owned, and our lives were turned upside down. We are a large family consisting of 10 members, including young children, elderly relatives, and two people with disabilities who require constant care.
But since the war began, our life has tragically changed. The bombing has not stopped, and our apartment was destroyed in an instant. We had no choice but to flee for safety, leaving everything we owned behind.
Now, we live in a temporary tent with hundreds of other families facing the same fate. We are homeless, without a source of income, and struggle daily to find food. Our children go to bed hungry, and we don’t have the money to buy food or even clean drinking water. The clothes we wear are all we have left, and they have begun to wear out from overuse. Diseases have started to spread among us due to the lack of healthcare.
Living in these harsh conditions has become unbearable. We face daily challenges just to survive—hunger, thirst, and the freezing cold at night. Our hope fades with each passing day. Our dream now is very simple: to have a warm shelter, food for our children, and healthcare for our loved ones. We also dream of leaving Gaza and finding safety elsewhere, far from the destruction and constant death.
We are in desperate need of your support. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference in our lives. It will help us buy food, water, clothes, and medical treatment for those with disabilities. Your support might be what saves my family and gives us a new chance at life.
I am raising these funds so that we can continue to live with dignity and meet the basic needs of my family.Prices have now become five times higher than they were in normal circumstances. For example, the price of tomatoes was one dollar; now it is 10 dollars, and sometimes it reaches 20 dollars. A kilogram of meat that was 10 dollars is now 40 dollars. A blanket that was 15 dollars is now 70 dollars or more. Shoes that were 15 dollars are now 80 dollars. Winter clothes that were 20 dollars are now 100 dollars.
Please help us survive, and remember that our hope in humanity remains, thanks to you.
It’s been nearly 150 days since a total siege has been imposed upon Gaza, with no food, water, medicine, or fuel entering Gaza. Noura has asked that I share this message with you all:
“I’m sharing this message with you to pass it on to everyone. The situation is escalating rapidly. Famine is spreading severely and at a very fast pace. There are no markets, no food, not even flour. We have reached the point of surviving on just salt and water there is nothing else to eat. We urge everyone to speak up and share what’s happening to us, especially regarding the recent events.”
Imagine surviving on salt and water only. Demand an end to the siege on Gaza, speak up and speak LOUD. Their lives depend upon it.
I’m writing to you from the heart of suffering. The situation here is catastrophic in every sense. There’s no food, no medicine, and the markets are completely empty. The money that has been donated barely covers two days as prices are insanely high, and the transfer fees are so steep that they significantly reduce the amount we actually recieve.
Please, I need your support in donating to or sharing the campaign with your community. We are battling starvation, and every share should mean one more day of survival for us. I’m simply trying to feed my siblings and loved ones to give them a little safety in the middle of this nightmare.
Thanks to your generous donations, Noura and her family could return to the rubble of their home. Given that all humanitarian aid, food, medicine, water, and fuel have been cut off again, as a form of collective punishment, prices for necessities have skyrocketed. Internet is not available where Noura is, but I received this message from her:
“We are now at home, but we have a lot of destruction. The stolen items include clothes, household items, and essential things for daily use- all of them have been stolen unfortunately. In addition to the destruction at home, it is difficult to remove the rubble.
The crisis has returned, and now there is no cooking gas or light at night. Food prices have risen again, and so have the prices of medicine”
Please consider sharing this campaign with your friends and family to help raise funds to help Noura and her family survive.
