Story

Hey everyone, this is Allie, and I’m writing this for my best friend, Gretchen and my god son, Winston.

Winston was supposed to be a foster during the covid lockdown, but the minute Gretchen met him, she fell in love. He’s been by her side (and anyone’s who would pet him) ever since.

Over the past two weeks, Winston has had two unrelated vet visits. After getting a clean bill of health, over the past few days he suddenly began vomiting and became very lethargic. Last night, Gretchen rushed him to the emergency vet where they ran tests (x-rays, bloodwork, and an ultrasound), gave him fluids, and treated him for dehydration and nausea. He was sent home, but unfortunately, he got sick again this morning.

Gretchen brought him back in, and this time Winston had to be hospitalized. He’s now receiving 12-18 hours of care and more testing to make sure there are no blockages and that his organs are functioning properly. Thankfully, his most recent x-ray looked good, but he’s still severely dehydrated and needs to stay overnight for observation and treatment.

So far Gretchen has covered everything out-of-pocket. She works two jobs and has already drained her savings to make sure Winston gets the care he needs. The costs have added up quickly, and I know how hard it is for her to ask for help so I’m asking for her.

If you’ve met Winston, you know how gentle, sweet, and special he is. And if you know Gretchen, you know how deeply she loves and takes care of the people (and animals) in her life. Any support you can offer, whether it’s a donation, a share, or just kind thoughts, means more than I can put into words.

Thank you for helping Gretchen and Winston. They are so loved, and we’re hopeful that with this treatment, Winston will be back to his happy, lazy, pet-demanding self soon.
