Urgent & Ongoing Fundraiser for the Al Nadi Family in Gaza
This fundraiser is being organized by the Al Nadi family based in the US, in support of our cousins in Gaza.
***UPDATES***
The price of the minimal food that can be found is extremely high.. 1 kg of flour is around $24, 1 onion is around $20.. cooking oil is around $60 and the list goes on and on.
We also have a family member who is in need of undergoing a surgery to install a battery in her heart due to her heart getting damaged from the cancer treatments.
Over the past 22 months, our family has endured unimaginable loss and suffering. We thought we would be able to help them ourselves, but the breadth and depth of the destruction of our family means that we cannot support them on our own. Over 200 members of the family have been killed, entire family units have been martyred, and all of the Al Nadi family have been displaced from their homes in both the Jabalia and Al Zaytoun refugee areas of Gaza.
Our family are refugees from the 1948 Nakba that paved the way for the new state of Israel by dispossessing Palestinians of their land. The Al Nadi family are survivors, making the most with the very little they have had since becoming refugees in their own country in 1948. They have been living in refugee camps in Gaza for generations and as you can imagine, they are all now just hoping to survive each day. And devastatingly, many of them have not survived.
Last week, an airstrike hit an Al Nadi family home, killing over 50 family members. Just a few days later, another airstrike hit our family members who survived the first strike- killing many more of our children and leaving at least one cousin, who lost 2 of her young children in the strike, an amputee with many other severe injuries. As the bombing continued, the family had no choice but to spend the night in the streets, with no safe place to go- leaning on their faith in God to help them survive another day. **UPDATE** They were struck again another time and they continue to move from place to place trying to survive.
In addition to supporting these family members financially, we will also be working behind the scenes to evacuate family members who require evacuation for life-saving medical treatment, and helping family members with life-threatening pre-existing conditions, like our dear cousin, Taghreed. Taghreed is battling brain tumors and urgently needs funds for medical procedures, travel (the care she needs is not available in Palestine), as well as for basic food and survival supplies.
This winter, as temperatures drop, the family is struggling to survive in more ways than one. They have no reliable shelter, need to purchase blankets and clothing to keep them warm, and food is incredibly expensive and hard to come by. These are ongoing needs.
Your donation will provide:
Food and essentials to sustain the family through the winter months.
Clothing and blankets to help them stay warm during the freezing temperatures.
Medical funds to help Taghreed receive cancer treatment and necessary medical care. **UPDATE** She is currently in need of a surgery to install a battery in her heart.
The ability to provide financial support for the myriad of other needs that come up each day.
We never thought we would have to resort to asking for help on this scale for our loved ones, but the sheer scale of this ongoing horror is something we could not have imagined. Please know that any contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in their lives during this incredibly challenging time.
We will continue to provide updates on this page about the Al Nadi family as well.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
