Story
The Baroumbaye family, composed of 7 members, has been reduced to 6 members on this day, May 24, 2025.
Nouba the father, Florence the mother, Sephora the eldest, Kelita the second, Daniel the fourth, and Grace the fifth deeply regret the tragic and sudden passing of their beloved daughter and sister, Mathilda Baroumbaye.
Mathilda is a Christian and loves working with the children of the church (Faith Heights Church) under the direction of Sarah Austin. As soon as Sarah learned of the passing, she wrote the following:
“My dear friends, I love you so much. I have no words to express the profound sadness I feel. I love that girl with my whole heart and I can’t believe I won’t get to see her again this side of heaven. I wish I could wrap my arms around each of you. I’m so, so sorry this has happened to your beautiful family.”
Mathilda completed high school brilliantly and had started university with the goal of becoming a hotel manager. With this vision, she left her fast food job to work at the DoubleTree hotel.
Unfortunately, a mental illness began to affect her. Her entire family, friends, and church supported her, but some personal choices created hindrances to the help that was being given. Still, no one lost hope.
Tragedy struck on May 24, 2025, but we believe that God has received her into His kingdom. Many acquaintances have shown their support, and we are grateful for all the efforts made to help us through this tragic time. Your continued prayers will comfort us until the day we are reunited with our daughter and sister.

Notes by Go Fund Me organizer: Daniel Ashurst
First and foremost, thank you to any and all who have and are currently giving generously toward this goal. In full transparency and candor, these wonderful people who have been a part of our church for many years now are such fantastic people, and they need our help.
As you may imagine to make a living in Grand Junction as a national from Chad, Africa is not an easy thing. Nouba and Florence have worked tirelessly to support their 5 children. Nouba (the father) has worked very hard to obtain training in Nursing (LPN) and become a stable hard working man at several local nursing facilities at the same time. And, having said that, they are marginally making ends meet, so the unexpected and tragic event of their daughters death is a financial hardship to them.
Please be generous in giving to this cause. May the God of all grace multiply back into your lives every dollar given. I am deeply thankful that I am not experiencing this horrible loss and one of my ways of expressing my thanks to God is giving sacrificially to this fund.
Services are currently scheduled for 2:00 on Saturday May 31, 2025 at Faith Heights Church – 600 28 1/4 Road Grand Junction, CO 81505
