Helping Children In The Camps

My name is Maria Clara, I am from Portugal. I am a retired engineer who mostly focused on family life, but now single and my heart has turned to those most in need. The situation in these camps is something many of us wouldn’t be aware, we know while news in TV talk about… and then it seems the situation is no more, but it persists. And it persists everyday, of every year until each young person is reintegrated (and his/her family if they have one). We can help with a little, and many bits do a lot. And children are so easily cheered when we deal with them with a gentle heart, and give them food and a place to sleep.
I am cooperating with a group of generous people mainly in Turkey who have been dedicating much of their time to the children in refugee camps. These are children located in Turkey and Syria. As summer temperatures rise, amenities and basic needs must be provided for those in need.
So I decided to do a fundraiser because funds are getting scarce. The basics would be to guarantee clean water, multiple points of distribution, keep clean clothes, beds, food, good hygiene and safe surroundings. As there are many young children, we cannot keep them in big groups. Some teams will work for just a few days, and this work involves both carrying and some little constructions. It can be exhausting. Funds will be sent directly by me to the local team, on a personal level, people I have known for more than 12 years, and whose joy and dedication are an example to me. So this is a call to your heart.
