Brianna Kirkland – Only 32 when she passed away unexpectedly overnight, May 22, 2025. My niece, Janae, found her mother deceased when she went to wake her for school Friday morning. Bre, as we so lovingly called her, lived her life as a pillar—standing tall and deeply rooted—providing strength, courage, knowledge, advice, understanding, love, and so much light to us all. Her transition has left us all speechless and full of deep pain.
Brianna was a respected community member, a leader, an advocate for LGBTQIA+, BLM, women’s rights, civil rights, human rights, and an avid supporter of small businesses all over the world. Brianna stood for ALL things good. Things took a turn when Brianna was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2022.
Despite her diagnosis, Bre fought. She made the necessary lifestyle changes. Bre did everything she was supposed to do. Bre documented and shared parts of her journey with all of us. Our baby wanted to live.
Over the past few months, Brianna struggled to regain employment once her political contract ended in late 2024, and in turn, was no longer covered under her health and life insurance policies.
As she rests, having fought a hard battle with CHF, our family is now tasked with covering her unexpected burial expenses and providing a sustainable quality of continued care for her daughter Janae. We ask for your help in laying Queen Bre to rest and to help us in securing the future she worked so tirelessly to provide for Juju.
