Story
The Oglesby’s family was given some news no one wants to hear. CANCER. After a simple CT scan due to mild back pain, the results were a large tumor in Dustin”s kidney. Not a simple kidney stone they were thinking.
Every doctor he came in contact moved very fast. Everything worked out timing wise to remove the kidney on May 5th. This was less than 2 weeks from when they first read the CT results.
The surgery was extensive. Doctors removed the kidney, several lymph nodes, and the tail of his pancreas. The hospital stay was a couple of days longer than anticipated.
There have been many positives since then. No cancer has spread to his bones or brain. Doctors feel they are ahead of the game by removing the problem. He will begin immunotherapy next week to eliminate whatever cancer cells are in his body before they begin to grow somewhere else. They travel to Indy on Tuesday to line out an exact treatment plan to tackle the cells.
Their lives have been turned upside down. The boys and Peyton help as much as possible. Nicole has not missed an appointment and has been the keeper of all important documents and appointments. With that being said, she has not been back to work due to this whirlwind of news.
Medical bills have not surfaced, but they are coming as well as some travel costs.
Dustin is a giver. There is never a time where he isn’t helping out a friend or family member with anything at all. He loves to cook for everyone and enjoys how it brings people closer. He will never turn down a time to have all his favorite people in one place. That is what he loves. That is we all love about him and his family.
Any help at all will be very appreciated. This will be a battle for them. Medical bills should not be the main focus now. Healing, love, and strength is what needs they need pull them through.
