Everyone knows someone who has or has had a personal experience with a mental health problem. This is something we are faced with throughout life and at some point everyone may need access to support services.

Mind is an independent charity run by local people, for local people. Each MIND centre are responsible for their own funding and services. Our local Minds support over 370,000 people across England and Wales. Their services include talking therapies, crisis helplines, drop-in centres, employment and training schemes, counselling and befriending.

So much research is still needed in all areas surrounding our mental health if we are to ensure that everyone gets the support and quality of life they deserve.

Here’s what we’re doing about it;

Myself and my Husband have decided to join them on their ICELAND LAVA TREK. This will be a self funded campaign, so all proceeds will go straight to the charity itself. As our first trip after 7 years together (!!) This will probably also qualify as our honeymoon..!

Aside from the one highlight which was us getting married, this year has been a hard one, we have had so many downs. One of which involved a very near loss of life and a lengthy hospital stay after an accident at work (4 weeks after our wedding!), leading to a case of severe PTSD, Anxiety and Depression.

As a result of this, we had been searching for the “perfect getaway/relaxation/week in the sun” type holiday, when on our Facebook news feed, MIND had shared their fundraising events.. It was too perfect! Without MIND, we may not have been together now. We have both had access to their services in the past and we have seen how valued these services are first hand. Now after dealing with a serious mental health issue, it is the perfect way to give back and help others who find themselves in desperate situations.

We are looking to raise a minimum of 5000 between us for this amazing charity, you can help us get there! If everyone who sees this dontated just 1 each, we will be a step closer to ending the stigmas around mental health and providing valuable services that some people in EVERY community have come to rely on.
