Thanks to generous donations, 7 year old RT from G za is now in the U.S. for life-saving medical treatment for a life-threatening blood disorder that requires a complex transplant. She arrived in the U.S. in early 2025, and now is expected be here until the end of 2025 due to unexpected medical complications (an additional 3-6 months).

$13,333 was raised previously to cover the following costs: visas, roundtrip flights, daily living in the U.S., and daily living for siblings left behind in Egypt. ~$12,000 has been spent ($10K on visa and travel, $1500 for younger siblings in Egypt, and $500 on daily living in the U.S.).

We are now raising $8000: $3000 to cover the cost of living expenses for the additional 3-6 months in the U.S., and $5000 for her father and family left behind in Gza. For over 50+ days, no aid has entered, making the cost of food and goods in the market inaccessible.

Notes:

The RT family has quickly settled into their temporary home in the U.S., completed over 30 medical appointments, and 2 unexpected hospital stays.

RT is scheduled to receive a transplant from her brave brother in March. In less than two weeks, she will be admitted to the hospital to undergo treatment in preparation for her body to receive this transplant. RT and Mom will be in the hospital for at least four weeks.

We are raising $2500 to cover the unexpected cost of childcare for RT’s two siblings who require care while Mom is in the hospital with RT. Unfortunately with RT’s hospital stay coinciding with Ramadan, we aren’t able to identify enough volunteer childcare coverage. Thankfully, we have identified a local Palestinian mother available for paid childcare. Now, we just need to raise the funds.

Faith in humanity has been restored! We are deeply appreciative of the very generous 114 donors that enabled us to reach our $10,000 fundraising goal in 3 days. This is tremendous!

We’re very conscious that donors are tapped out after over a year of constant giving. This campaign is a reminder that, even when we feel like we’ve exhausted all our resources, the community shows up when there’s a need. This is what we do best – show up!

We’re excited to share that RT’s medical visa has been granted, her plane ticket to the U.S. has been booked, and her housing has been secured. And most importantly, her first medical appointment is scheduled. She will begin her journey here soon.

Sadly, RT is forced to leave behind younger siblings in Cairo for six months while RT receives life-saving treatment in the U.S. with mom. The younger children will be living with another Gazan family that fled from Cairo. To accomodate the additional children, they will move to a bigger, more expensive apartment.

We’ve updated our fundraiser to raise an additional $1500 that will cover their living expenses for 6 months (rent portion, food). In one week, this money will be given directly to the family caring for the children through the People for Palestine mutual aid group. Please share this fundraiser one more time with your networks
