The beauty and temperament of the Lipizzaners win the hearts of everyone who know them. Count Jankovich-Besan was determined to save these noble horses and brought them to South Africa in 1948.
Major George Iwanowski came to South Africa in 1951 and met the Count who offered him a Lipizzaner to train and Maestoso Erem became the first Lipizzaner to be seen demonstrating the the poweful movements that saved many soldiers at war.
In 1960 Major George began developing the equestrian centre in Kyalami. It has become the centre in Africa that trains and presents the art of High school riding with regular performances of the Lipizzaners, similar to those performed by the Spanish Riding School in Vienna.
They have become a proud heritage of South Africa and are known as “The White Stallions of Kyalami” which we regard as the royalty of equine breeds. They are magestic and magnificent and deserve to continue their amazing survival and powerful performances.
Tragically we have been hard hit by the dreaded AFRICAN HORSE SICKNESS disease and we are in desperate need of URGENT funding for the treatment and preventative medication for our precious horses.
The medication is expensive and the Lipizzaners’ stables needs to be sprayed regularly to fight the insects that carry the disease. The horses need to be vacinated and protected from the disease regularly. We have 28 mares at the stud farm and 35 working horse at the centre so we need a huge amount of medication to keep them safe. Requesting support from compassionate and caring people is our only hope to raise enough funding to help fight this deadly disease and keep them protected.
And how it’s going to change the world
We are privileged to have these amazing Stallions performing the movements that saved many men at war. They are powerful and magestic creatures and they deserve to be kept alive to show the world that THE HORSE is one of the most spectacular creatures that have ever worked in unity with humanity.
We are asking to raise R120,000.00 (South African Rands). This will medicate the horses for the next six months and hopefully keep them healthy before we are hit with another outbreak of African Horse Sickness. All six classical bloodlines are represented at our centre being Favory, Maestoso, Conversano, Siglavy, Pluto and Neopolitano.
Your support, love and compassion will reward you with the knowledge that you have helped to save a royalty of Lipizzaner bloodlines. From the horses mouth…… We thank you from the very bottom of our magnificent performing hooves to the tips of our beautiful silky tails.
